What Shoe Cleaning means at Bethel
Shoes take a beating — dirt, dust, monsoon mud, and daily wear. We clean them properly: brushing off loose grime, treating stains, cleaning soles, and restoring the finish. Each pair is cleaned by hand, not thrown into a machine. The result is a pair that looks and smells fresh, without the abrasion of an automated process.
How We Do It
Our process — step by step
Initial Assessment
We check the material, current condition, and any specific problem areas before touching the shoe. Leather and suede need different treatment than canvas or mesh.
Dry Brush & Sole Clean
Loose dirt and debris are removed with a firm brush before any liquid is applied. The sole and edges are cleaned first to prevent cross-contamination onto the upper.
Material-Appropriate Cleaning
We use foam cleaners for canvas and synthetic, leather conditioner solutions for dress shoes, and specialist suede erasers for nap fabrics. Nothing that strips or cracks the finish.
Interior Deodorisation
The inside of the shoe is wiped down and treated with a deodorising spray. This is where odour lives — cleaning only the outside is half the job.
Final Polish & Pack
Leather shoes get a buff. Canvas shoes are air-dried. All pairs are individually wrapped in tissue before being returned.
